THE NEGLECTED WILLIAM HERSCHEL

Herschel built the largest organ in Englad and became the Royal Organist.

But his hobby was astronomy, so be built the largest telescope in England and became the Royal Astronomer.

While systematically investigating the skies, Herschel discovered the plant Uranus.

Noting that objects become hot when heated, Herschel investigated the red line refracted by a prism by a thermometer. Putting the thermometer below the red ray, Herschel saw the temperature rise considerably. He realized that there was radiation there which we cannot see: infrared. This is now used in night photograohy, night scopes, and in wireless electronics.
