An old cliché goes, "Nothing is certain but death and taxes."I'll bet people have always complained about taxes. Certainly they do today. And some complainers are people with no children or with grown children away from home who have to pay so much property tax to support public education. In their thinking, this is "Taxation without representation!", the battle cry which fomented The American Revolution.
But these grumnblers, along with all of us, have been fooled by a hidden tax for education which we pay in perhaps every expenditure we make.
Because of the failure of our educational system the majority of our students are not sufficiently employable, but, being "the only game in town", they must be employed and re-educated. And that costs money. Corporations report spending billions of dollar a year re-educating the young people they employ.
And is this philanthopy? No! They pass the cost on to you in every thing or service you buy and local and state governments collect more payment in sales tax.
