I repeatedly discovered the greatest benefit of TEACHING is that YOU LEARN YOURSELF. When you seriously respond to the STEWARDSHIP of helping some one else learn, you can get ideas and discover "tricks" presenting them that you usually cannot obtain merely by studying for yourself.Knowing this, I repeatedly advised students -- not yet ready for formal teaching -- to pretend that each was teaching to another the subject being "taken in class". I compared this activity to reheasing by oneself for a play.
And that -- Actors! -- "puts it in your court". Better than most teachers, you can show students how to do this.
And, with the GREAT COUNTRYWIDE SHORTAGE OF TEACHERS -- you should be welcomed.
FULFILL BY FILLING SOCIETY'S NEEDS. And, in doing so, you'll be honing your craft more than in the usual jobs actors find between-roles.
Happy teaching!
