LEAKY NAMES LOSE DECISION GAMES!

The American linguist, Leonard Bloomfield, said, "All grammars leak." That is, EXCEPTIONS TO GRAMMATICAL RULES FREQUENTLY PEEK OUT AT YOU.

Elsewhere, I emphasize that implementing all of the usual standards of measurement can be a waste if you fail to respect what I call The First Law of Measurement Theory: LET ALL YOUR NAMES BE UNIVOCAL!. That is, "speak with one voice"; equivalently, have ONE AND ONLY ONE MEANING; that is, be "leakless"!

The "record" is replete with misinterpreters of orders or wishes who do the opposite of what the "speaker" intended. For exmple, "help" as in "Help me!" means what the suppliant considers help and not what you think is "help". This confusion not only "loses a decision game" but can result in unwanted damage or wounding or death!

LANGUAGE MAKES US HUMAN! AND THOUGHTFUL LANGUAGE CAN MAKE FOR ETHICAL BEHAVIOR.

But most folks seem not away of the leakiness that can lose "ethical games".

I'll simply cite a few "everyday words" to reconsider:

These are just a few suggestions. Can you think of some others?
