EITHER THE ELEMENTS OF A SYSTEM OR STRUCTURE ARE THEMSELVES DISTINGUISHABLE (A FIGURE-DISTINGUISHABILITY) OR THE OBTAIN DISTINGUISHABILITY FROM THEIR GROUND.

The prime example of this is COORDINATION OF GEOMETRIC POINTS IN A SPACE. EVERY GEOMETRIC POINT IS LIKE EVERY OTHER GEOMETRIC POINT. BUt NUMBERS ARE DISTINGUISHABLE, ONE FROM ANOTHER. Hence, by COORDINATING AN INDISTINGISHABLE POINT WITH A DISTINGUISHABLE NUMBER, A PATTERN IS SET FORTH.

We see this in "demographics". Without using a photograph and a "profile", one American "looks like another". But the Social Security Number provides DISTINGUISHABILITY. Similar examples further articulate this STRATEGY.

That is, EITHER THE STRUCTURE OR SYSTEM IS SEEN AS AN ORDERING, OR ITS "FIGURE" EXISTS BECAUSE OF A BACKGROUND ORDERING.
